Frequently asked questions

  • OON benefits are when an insurance company reimburses clients for services they receive from practitioners who do not accept their insurance plan. The best way to find out what your OON benefits cover is to call your insurance company and ask the following questions:

    1. Do I have OON benefits?

    2. What is my deductible for OON benefits?

    3. What percentage of cost do you cover for the following services:

    • Individual therapy (code: 90834)

    • Intake/diagnostic assessment (code: 90791) *first session

    • Family and Couples therapy (code: 90846 or 90847)

  • Dandelion Collective, where I see clients in person, has 12 stairs to enter the building, and my office is on the third floor. There is no elevator in the building. With advanced notice I can book an office on the first floor.

  • I offer the following COVID precautions: air purifier in the office, option for open windows, and option for me to wear a mask. I strive to be as flexible as possible (e.g.: rescheduling or pivoting to virtual sessions) when clients are sick, and if clients come to session with symptoms of being sick, I will ask them to wear a mask and wear a mask myself. If there are additional precautions that will help make therapy more accessible to you, let’s talk about it!

  • It is up to the child! If a kid requests their caregiver join a session, then yes, you may join us. If a caregiver wants time to speak with me about their child, I will do my best to schedule a short phone call, or schedule a caregiver session as soon as possible. Monthly caregiver sessions are part of all youth treatment plans, and depending on the situation, I often recommend scheduling more family sessions.

  • Prioritizing the consent and agency of youth is a crucial part of building a therapeutic relationship and rapport with my clients. I maintain the confidentiality of all my clients, including the information I share with their families, unless I am concerned for their safety. If a client is having homicidal or suicidal ideation or discloses experiences of abuse or neglect, I will share that with caregivers as a part of safety planning. As a licensed social worker, I am a mandated reporter, which means that if a youth client discloses current or past abuse or neglect, I am obligated to report it to CFSA. Whenever possible I will communicate with the caregivers before I make the report.
